Northern Iceland

There’s energy everywhere in Iceland that shapes the mountains, fiords and immense deserted spaces and sparkles with the midnight sun in summer and the northern lights in winter. The volcanic formations have been engraved and worn smooth by the glaciers from the ice age and by the waves from the sea, leaving a natural masterpiece that is beyond anyone’s imagination. We’ll explore the extreme north of Iceland, as you always imagined it, ruled by fire and Vulcans. We’ll have the chance to climb on a number of volcanic craters, some being extinct for some time, some with internal lakes and others ready to expose their strength. We’ll witness some of the strongest demonstrations of the force of nature.

The impressive Dettifoss waterfall will leave us speechless with its enormous quantity of water and rainbows that form in the sky. Northern Iceland is a place where everything is big from the enormous moon deserts to the long valleys through the mountains, to the magical encounter with the biggest animals of our planet earth, whales! Every night, during the tours in September, will be a good occasion to try to see and photograph the aurora borealis that, thanks to the low level of air pollution in this area, makes Iceland one of the best places in the world for observing this incredible phenomenon. Our base will be between Husavik and Lake Myvatn, one of the best places for birdwatching, because of the rich number of species and for the endemism of the area. The earth’s crust is so thin here it shares life with fumarole and mud wells. Now’s the chance for a well-earned bathe in the wonderful Myvatn Nature Baths.

Our tour is focused on the most beautiful and famous places along the Diamond circle and the Golden circle from Geysir to Godafoss , from Asbirgy to Gulfoss and to the corners lesser known to the tourist mass.
